After Celta de Vigo losing one of his main players (Brais Méndez), Gabri Veiga has emerged this season as his natural successor and is completing an outstanding campaign. His numbers (6 goals & 2 assists) and above all his high impact on Celta´s game have made him earn the tag of future promise, catching popularity and interest of many clubs.

Celta´s former wonderkid (27/05/2002) starts as attacking midfielder, being able to perform in every position around the midfield. Gabri Veiga is the kind of midfielder that can make the difference in the last meters, gifted with huge quality, vision, personality and an elevated work rate.

What is most impressive about his breakthrough season is his incredible capacity towards the opposite goal. He is having a notorious positive effectiveness for his young age and inexperience in professional football, asserting his good striking ability. In fact, he is one of the midfielders who tries more shots per 90 minutes (2,61), reflecting that he trusts on his shooting even from long distances.

A remarkable aspect of his game is his tendency to always look forward in and off the ball. He always looks for verticality whenever he receives the ball, looking to advance either with powerful carries or looking for progressive passing lanes. He has great vision and quality to filter the last pass triggering potential 1vs1 situations against the goalkeeper or find forwards between lines, as well as a huge stride that allows him to take on rivals while trying to enter the opponents penalty area. His innate ball dominance is key there. Gabri Veiga has above average technical resources to play either in tight or open spaces, being brave and having personality to dribble rivals and eccentricity to imagine and try impossible passes.

Off the ball, his sense of positioning allows him to take advantage of the rivals, scanning the surroundings constantly and detecting spaces to offer dangerous passing lines. In fact, he is one of Celtas players who most progressive passes received between lines (3,04/90´), being a clear example of his intelligence to detect optimal free spots. When Celta plays widely, it is common to see him attacking spaces vertically behind full backs, providing mobility and imbalances, despite being much more determinant while adopting inside positions

Defensively Veiga adopts an active role in Celta de Vigo. He activates himself fastly when losing the ball for the counterpressing, making his team push forward in the off the ball phase. Despite being an offensive player, he has good ability to recover balls in 1vs1 defensive situations, using his body well and timing the tackles correctly, as well as having good stats in duels, providing huge aggressiveness in the midfield. An aspect where he should improve defensively is on his game lecture and ability to intercept passes, as he could that way have an incredible impact on both offensive and defensive moments and become a complete midfielder.

Gabri Veiga has everything to be a top player if he gets to unlock all his potential. Being so young, he still has room for improvement in different aspects, such as maturity in the decision making to accelerate the play or dosage of efforts, but he has already established himself in international football as a potential rising star.
