Rodrigo Gomes has been one of the summer market names in the present season.
Born in Póvoa de Varzim on 7 July 2003 and a product of Braga's youth academy, Gomes made his debut in the Primeira Liga on 3 October 2020, at the young age of 17. On 14 December of the same year, he made also his first start in a 7–0 Taça de Portugal fourth round win.
After several years alternating participations with the first and the reserve team, last summer Braga announced that Gomes would be sent on a season-long loan to Primeira Liga side Estoril Praia. Due to his great performance on loan, where he has scored a total of 7 goals and 7 assists in a total of 30 games and more than 2.400 minutes played, he has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs, leading to his transfer to Wolves this summer.
At Estoril, Gomes began playing as a wing-back, mainly on the right side of the pitch. However, his versatility makes him a player capable of playing both full-back and winger roles on both flanks.
Talking about his characteristics as a player, he can be considered a modern and offensive full-back. He stands out from going out with the ball from the back making an effective use of the carrying and dribbling.
