Pietro Comuzzo (San Daniele del Friuli, Udine, Italy, 19 February 2005) is one of the big news in ACF Fiorentina's defence this season.
Pietro started playing football for his hometown club Tricesimo. His youth development continued at Udinese and he then moved to Pordenone, where he played until the end of the 2018-19 season. In 2019 he was signed by ACF Fiorentina, and his growth at the club since his arrival has been extraordinary.
He made his professional debut on 8 October 2023, where Vincenzo Italino trusted him in the eighth matchday of Serie A against Napoli, which they won 1-3 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in front of around 45000 spectators.
Already this season, he has established himself as one of the key players in the Florence defence, making more than 25 appearances in just over half a season.
At international level, Comuzzo has represented Italy at U-15, U-17, U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 level, and has also recently been considered for the senior national team, although he has yet to make his debut.
In terms of his characteristics as a player, Pietro is a very dominant and complete centre-back, as well as a great marker.
Physically, he is an imposing centre-back. He is a strong, powerful and quick player in open spaces and particularly intuitive in anticipation. He is also a very winning centre-back in individual duels.
Technically, Comuzzo is a quite correct player. He has a good range of passing, both short and long, and contributes a great deal to the team's building. It is remarkable his great technical level in defensive actions such as clearances, tackles and interceptions.
Tactically, on the other hand, he has a great reading in forward defensive situations, but he must correct some aspects at his back. Understandably, he needs to balance that impulsiveness and aggressiveness in stealing with a greater awareness of what is going on around him.
Ultimately, his great performance and consistency at such a young age speaks of a player of great maturity, personality and character on a mental level. His determination and tenacity foresee an absolutely elite defensive player.
