Another example of Bournemouth’s strong player development project can be seen in Julio Soler, the player entrusted with taking over the left-back position following the departure of Milos Kerkez.
Born in Asunción, Paraguay, on 16 February 2005, Julio César Soler Barreto relocated early to Buenos Aires, where he joined the youth academy of Argentinos Juniors, later moving to Lanús at age 11, completing his development there.
Soler represented Lanús through the 2022–2024 seasons, accumulating 58 senior appearances. On January 2025, he signed for Premier League club Bournemouth on a long-term contract, where he is already emerging as an interesting player during the start of the new season.
Internationally, Soler has worn the Argentina jersey at U20 and U23 levels; he notably captained the U20s and featured in the Argentina squad at the 2024 Summer Olympics, having also received his firts senior call-up in October 2024.
Regarding to his player profile, Julio Soler is a left-footed left-back or wing-back who brings energy and modern defensive dynamism. Standing at 175 cm, he combines technical comfort on the ball with defensive reliability. Characterised by his strong ball carrying, technical qualities and aggressiveness in transitions, Soler has proven to be highly useful in the physically demanding context of the Premier League, fitting the profile of a very complete player, effective both offensively and defensively.
The argentinian defender can be considered as an adaptable full-back with a clean slate in terms of goals but strong foundational defensive traits. His upbringing in Argentina’s competitive youth systems and his early exposure to professional football form an excellent base. He shows leadership- as underscored by his captaincy of the U20 national team- and positional intelligence, capable of handling the rigors of Premier League football.
With his blend of international experience, adaptability, and the physical and tactical attributes commonly sought in modern full-backs, Soler has the potential to establish himself as a reliable Premier League starter. If his trajectory continues upward, he could become a meaningful presence for both Bournemouth and potentially the Argentina senior team in the years ahead.
