Jorne Spileers, born in Oudenaarde (Belgium) on 21 January 2005, is a Belgian defender who plays for Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro-League.
After a spell in the academy of SV Zulte Waregem, he joined the youth divisions of Club Brugge at the age of 9. From then until his junior years, he played as a striker, but eventually moved down the pitch to develop professionally as a central defender.
His debut with the first team took place on the 10th matchday of the 22/23 league championship, at the age of 17. That same season he also made his Champions League debut in a group stage match against Atlético de Madrid. Thus, in his first season with Brugge's senior squad, he played a total of 12 games.
The last season, however, despite not having established himself as a first-choice starter in the team, he has played more than 3.300 minutes in 43 matches in all competitions.
Internationally, he has also been part of the Belgium national team at U-15, U-17, U-19 and currently at U-21 level.
Regarding his football skills, we are talking about a physically very tall and thin player. He does not stand out for his conditional abilities, however, he is quite decisive in penalty area situations and duels.
Tactically he is a very tidy player. He has a great reading of the game and vision when getting the ball out of the defence. In addition, he almost always makes good decisions and is a great asset when it comes to moving the team forward from the back.
Technically, he is a very good short and long passer, as well as clearances and interceptions.
Mentally, ultimately, he is a player of great maturity for his age. He is calm, consistent, determined and confident in his own skills. Undoubtedly, he is a player with a different potential in his position to the modern standards, but at the same time an interesting player in elite football.
