Jhon Elmer Solís Romero, born in Guacarí, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, on 3 October 2004, arrived to Girona last summer to try to make a name for himself in one of the most attractive teams in LaLiga.
Formed at Atlético Nacional, with whom he made his debut in 2022 and with whom he won the Apertura 2022 and the Colombian Superliga 2023, Solís is considered one of the most important talents on the South American continent.
After a difficult 2023/24 season in which he may not have played as many minutes as he had expected, he is beginning to re-emerge as a player to be considered in the team's midfield this season. The team's continuous injuries in the midfield, as well as the participation in 3 different competitions (LaLiga, Champions League and Copa del Rey), has led to his participation in several matches during the beginning of the season, which has allowed him to show great qualities for elite football.
Technically, Jhon Solís is a remarkable player. Although it is not his most outstanding area, he is a midfielder with a good associative capacity and a good ball delivery in the construction of the game.
It is in the physical aspect, in this case, where we find his greatest potential. His large wingspan and stride allow him to occupy a large area of the pitch, steal many balls and be very dominant and winning in duels, both in the air and on the ground.
Tactically, on the other hand, he is a fairly organised player, disciplined and with good decision making.
On the mental side, finally, we are talking about a player who tends to go unnoticed, especially in a team like Girona, which accumulates so much ball possession. There is no doubt about his importance in defence and his great work in the shadows, however, a greater involvement of his qualities and a greater role in the game would undoubtedly make Solís a much more relevant player.
