Christian Andrey Mosquera Ibargüen has gone from being one of Valencia CF's top young talents to becoming one of the most important players in just a few months.
Born in Alicante (Spain) on 27 June 2004 and of Colombian origin, Mosquera has established himself this season as one of the most important central defenders in LALIGA EA SPORTS 23/24 at just 19 years of age.
His background as a footballer took place in different futsal clubs in the city of Alicante before moving to the Hercules CF youth team. In 2016, however, he would catch the eye of the Valencia CF Academy, who signed him at the age of just 12.
On 4 September 2021 (17) he made his debut as a Valencia Mestalla player and, just a few months later, on 16 January 2022, he also made his debut with the first team in the Copa del Rey, starting and playing all 90 minutes of the tie against Atlético Baleares.
During the 2022/23 season, despite maintaining his position as academy player, he remained in the dynamic of the first team, participating in several matches under the leadership of Gennaro Gattusso, the coach at that time.
In the current season, his evolution has been remarkable, playing more than 3.000 minutes and establishing himself as one of the most valuable players in the team. His high performance throughout the season also earned him a call-up to the Spanish Under-21 national squad, with whom he made his debut on 21 March this year and of which he is expected to be part for the next Olympic Games.
On a technical level, we are talking about a defender with great qualities to bring the ball out from the back, given his good and reasonable decision making and his wide range of passing.
Tactically, he is a player with great intelligence and understanding of the game, something that does not usually correspond to his young age. He is almost always well positioned and he hardly committs any mistakes in reading the game in his interventions.
Physically, his large size (191 cm) and his great physical abilities (speed, strength and power), make him a central defender very well adapted to modern football. He allows the team to play with a forward defensive line and is a very valuable asset in open space runs, duels and last-man situations.
All these qualities, together with the calm and serenity that his way of playing conveys, make Mosquera a really interesting defender for the elite and he is sure to be a highly appreciated player in future transfer markets.
