Arthur Piedfort is a Belgian midfielder born on 01/02/2005 (21) in Herentals. He is 185cm tall and weighs 70kg. He grew up playing football for PSV’s youth team, and currently plays for Auxerre's first team. The player acts mainly as a midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation. His natural position is a defensive midfielder, but he can also play as a center midfielder.

From a physical standpoint, Arthur Piedfort is an ectomorph, with above-average height and a high center of gravity. He is a rangy athlete with agility, balance, and coordination, but he needs to develop his musculature (even though he already has good strength). Arthur Piedfort has good body control despite his height; he also has good ball progression, but he isn’t very fast.

Arthur Piedfort is a defensive midfielder, and his preferred foot is his right. He uses it to score and to make precise passes to his teammates. Arthur Piedfort also shows good game vision. Arthur Piedfort already has good shooting ability, but he needs to take more shots and improve in long-range shooting. The player has very good heading ability and is strong in aerial duels. On the other hand, he must improve his finishing. The Belgian player has very good basic technique, technical cleanliness and ball control. He has an excellent oriented first touch.

During the possession phase, Arthur Piedfort often drops into deeper positions to facilitate play. He excels at shielding the ball and distributing under pressure. He prefers short-to-medium ground passes with high accuracy to maintain fluid build-up. Upon regaining possession, the Belgian midfielder enjoys making progressive carries and joining the attack to create numerical superiority. He relies on off-the-ball runs.

During the non-possession phase, Arthur Piedfort demonstrates excellent positioning, enabling him to intercept numerous passes and shots. He actively participates in defending and pressing in midfield, making him a valuable asset for ball recovery. Additionally, he excels in standing tackles and aerial duels. His game awareness is exceptional, as he anticipates passing lanes early, effectively compensating for limited explosive speed through keen spatial awareness. His defensive proficiency allows him to also play as a center back.

Arthur Piedfort demonstrates mental composure, maintaining calmness and focus on the field. The midfielder exhibits relentless effort, consistency, and stability, staying composed under pressure and handling crowded areas with ease. Leading by example rather than words, he offers structural reliability and tactical discipline to help stabilize the team. His patience is notable—he knows when to slow the game and when to accelerate.

Regarding the overall evaluation of the player, Arthur Piedfort is a promising prospect with significant potential for growth: he excels in defensive skills and technical ability but still needs to mature, improve his finishing, work on his aerial duels, and improve his decision-making. The Belgian player has all the qualities to become an excellent defensive midfielder and a modern box-to-box midfielder. A player with a similar profile in today's game is definitely McTominay.
