FC Barcelona played back against Valencia CF just 2 weeks after the 7-1 resounding win at Montjuic (FCB 7-1 VAL) and the result of the game was very similar to the blaugrana side.
Valencia CF, with a very difficult situation in La Liga, seem to have discarded their chances in the Copa del Rey after the approach observed in the match. Although we could see some new faces in the XI, as well as a change of system - 3 centre-back defenders and long wingers - to protect themselves against the powerful attack of Hansi Flick's team, the team looked quite recognisable in the first moments of the match.
However, in the 3rd minute of the match, a great pass from Balde to Ferran behind the centre-backs led to the first goal of the match, which completely unsettled the home team and made visible all the insecurities and lack of confidence of the team.
FC Barcelona realised their opponents' weaknesses and, through their associative game and an aggressive pressing, managed to cause a lot of damage, being especially effective in the Valencia area.
Ferran Torres, with 3 goals against his former team, was the standout player, being particularly intuitive in the space behind the defensive line, a situation that Valencia were never able to solve during the match, either through pressure on the passer or trying to correct in the open spaces.
Fermín and Lamine Yamal were the other two scorers of the game, resulting in yet another defeat that continues depleting the confidence of a historic club like Valencia CF that are already out of the Copa del Rey and whose situation in La Liga is worrying to say the least.
