Manchester City returned to Ipswich 24 years later with a comfortable win as they continue their way to get back to their best shape.
The game started at a very high pace. Ipswich Town played a 5-4-1 formation with a fairly high block, something that surprised the Manchester side at the start of the game. However, throughout the first half they found out many difficulties to recover the ball back. They were unable to steal in their opponents' half and City found it very easy to get forward on the counter-attack.
On the City side, they team proposed their common 4-2-3-1, playing with an asymmetric system on both wings due to Foden's more centred position over Doku. After the intense start, it was Phil Foden the responsible for scoring two of the three goals that gave City the lead at half-time. Mateo Kovačić also added to the scoreline, assisted by the home-grown player.
In the second half Jérémy Doku first and Erling Haaland - who now has 17 in the league - and then James McAtee, who also scored his first Premiership goal for City just minutes after coming on the pitch, completed the scoring.
It was the end of a very calm match for Pep Guardiola's side, who accumulated the ball possession (67%) and also the key chances, dominating the game in all its aspects and pushing the Ipswich team a little deeper into the bottom of the table.
