Luka Romero currently plays for Lazio U19 Primavera team in Italy after transferring from Mallorca B in July 2021. He featured for Mallorca B most of the season in the Tercera Division featuring 16 times and scoring 2 goals in the process. He showed flashes of brilliance for Mallorca featuring 6 times in the Segunda Division and scoring 1 goal at the tender age of 15. He broke the record of being the youngest ever player to feature in a professional La Liga match in 2020 at the age of 15 years and 219 days breaking Sanson's record.

Romero is a diminutive playmaker who excels in dribbling. His first touch is incredible for his age and has the ability to dribble out of situations. He has great awareness of his surroundings to dribble around defenders. His lower center of gravity allows him to have great balance and maintain possession when he is tackled by a defender.

There are many comparisons to Lionel Messi for Romero with his physical stature, dribbling ability, and goal-scoring exploits before joining Mallorca. But the player he most resembles that comes into mind is Philippe Coutinho. The reason for the comparison is during Coutinho's Inter Milan and even during his Espanyol days, he was an excellent dribbler of the ball and being a playmaker for the team. His flair, balance, dribbling ability, and his vision caught the attention of other big clubs and with a lack of game-time at Inter Milan, he made the transfer to Liverpool FC where he became a household name.

While Romero may not have the passing ability as Coutinho, he does possess a far better dribbling ability than when Coutinho was at his age. And with Romero transferring to Italy, it'll suit his ability even more. Both players are deadly from set-piece situations and shoot the ball really well.

There are some weaknesses to Romero's game and while the obvious lack of height prevents him from being good in the air, he sometimes over-dribbles to the point where it can get him in trouble. While he is an excellent dribbler, his lack of awareness for his teammates at times can be worrying while he's dribbling. But when he gets his head up, his vision and passing ability are incredible.

He is still very young and still has many years to improve other aspects of his game and it'll be exciting to see what he'll become in the years to come. He is definitely a player to watch over the next few years.
